What Is A Fat Transfer?
With weight loss and age, some people can lose overall shape in various parts of their bodies where volume was once plentiful. A terrific way to restore lost volume is through an advanced cosmetic technique known as a fat transfer at Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery. This treatment removes fat from a section on your body and transfers it into another area that needs additional volume. Fat transfer procedures can be used on large areas, such as the buttocks or breasts, or even on small areas, like the lower eyelid, cheeks, or lips. Fat transfers are commonly chosen when a patient hopes to have a natural enhancement rather than using a device, such as an implant or a substance, such as a filler. Plastic surgeon Dr. Brandon-Dzung Mang uses the most advanced liposuction and grafting methods for performing fat transfers on his Atlanta, GA patients. This cosmetic enhancement at Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery creates gorgeous, soft outcomes.

Can I Get a Fat Transfer?
If you have thin or deflated areas on your face or body, you may be an appropriate candidate for our fat grafting (transfer) procedure. This procedure is even more advantageous because it offers a natural approach to produce results by incorporating the patient's own fat. With this method, there is little concern for rejection. If you are considering a fat transfer at Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery, you should be at a healthy weight and have enough fat to remove for the transfer.
How Does a Fat Transfer Work?
During your fat transfer, you will be put under some form of anesthesia, depending on how much fat is being extracted and where it will be placed. Liposuction is completed first using a special cannula to remove the fat so it can be purified and harvested inside a centrifuge. After prepping the injection site, the extracted fat will be injected into the area(s) chosen for the transfer. This injection is performed in layers until the desired outcome has been attained. For larger areas, numerous injections will be necessary.
What Can I Expect After My Fat Transfer?
After the transfer process has been completed, you will go through a healing phase. Remember, you have two different areas on your body healing from this treatment: the area involving liposuction and the injection sites. The recovery process will depend on what area of your body was addressed. A fat transfer for lip enhancement will typically only require a 1 – 2-day healing period whereas a transfer to the butt or breasts can take much longer. Each area will be swollen and red, but your results can be noticed almost immediately. Another perk is the area where fat was extracted will appear slimmer. There is minimal scarring that is noticeable with this procedure, and you should be able to enjoy your new look for years to come.
Fat Transfer FAQ
How much does a fat transfer cost?
Fat transfer cost will depend on several factors. For fat transfers to the breasts or buttocks, you require a larger volume of fat. Because of this, patients require surgical liposuction, which means a longer treatment process. During your procedure, we have to withdraw the fat, purify it, and graft it where needed. Smaller fat transfers, like those to the face and hands, require less time and fat. Our team determines the amount of fat required during your initial consultation with Dr. Mang. From there, he can provide you with estimates of cost and payment options for you to consider.
Where can I have fat transferred?
Patients can receive a fat transfer almost anywhere on their body or face. Some of the most common areas include the butt (typically called the Brazilian butt lift), face, hands, and breasts. We can combine a fat transfer with breast implants or breast reconstruction to treat imperfections. Patients may also benefit from fat transfer in the face and hands, particularly underneath the eyes, or to add shape to their lips. Please tell Dr. Mang during your initial consultation about where you want to add volume so that he can develop your custom fat transfer treatment plan.
How long will the results of a fat transfer last?
Fat transfers create natural-looking results that can last for a long time with proper care. Dr. Mang uses advanced techniques to purify and graft fat, which minimizes reabsorption. Although there is generally a small amount of fat that doesn't graft to the new area, Dr. Mang often transfers slightly more fat. If you want to enhance or touch up your results after a few years, Dr. Mang can perform a second fat transfer.
